They happen in between.
In the pauses no one really accounts for. In the seconds just before something begins, or just after it ends. The moments that aren’t announced but somehow feel the most real.
Not Everything Important Happens on Stage
The stage naturally takes the focus. It’s where the big moments are meant to happen.
But I often find myself looking just beyond it.
A glance exchanged halfway through a talk. Someone leaning in to quietly say something that makes the other person laugh. A reaction that passes quickly but says more than what’s being presented.
This is often what people are really looking for when they think about what events need a photographer. Not just coverage of what’s scheduled, but a way to capture what it actually felt like to be there.
The In-Between Moments
It’s usually something small.
A group forming naturally around a coffee table. Someone standing slightly off to the side, taking it all in. A conversation that wasn’t planned, but ends up lasting longer than expected.
I’ve learned to pay attention to these.
Because while they might seem incidental, they shape the way the whole event feels. They reflect the people behind the brand, the connections being made, and the kind of atmosphere that no stage moment can fully show. In many ways, this is where corporate branding photography becomes less about visuals, and more about capturing something genuine.
