Worried About London Weather? Here’s How I Capture Your Day Anyway

travel outside London for wedding photography

London light has a habit of shifting. Sunshine can turn into gentle rain without much warning. Couples often ask me, “What happens if the weather is bad on our London wedding day?”

The truth is, the weather never defines the day. The smiles, the nerves, the way hands find each other during the ceremony, those moments don’t disappear.

I stay present and let it all unfold naturally, photographing what’s real as it happens, whatever the sky is doing above us.

My Photography Style for London Weddings

I get asked a lot, “What photography style do you specialise in for London weddings?”

My style is simple. I watch moments happen instead of asking people to pose. Couples and guests relax when they forget the camera is there. It’s documentary photography at its heart. The images feel real because they’re not staged.

London has so many tucked-away corners and streets you’d walk past without noticing. The light changes constantly. I like paying attention to those small details and letting them become part of your story.

Traveling Beyond London

Sometimes the story takes us beyond London. Couples ask, Can you travel outside London for wedding photography?”

Absolutely. I’m always happy to.

Each place feels different. The light falls differently. The pace shifts. I just move with it and let the day unfold. It’s the little looks. The laughter that drifts across the room. The quiet moments no one else really notices. That’s what stays with you, wherever we are.

City streets, open countryside, or somewhere miles away, it’s never really about the backdrop. It’s about the people. I’m just there to follow it and photograph it as it unfolds.

Capturing the Small Moments

Even on a cloudy day, there’s so much happening. A quick smile under an umbrella. A quiet squeeze of the hand. Friends laughing as the rain falls. None of that disappears because of the weather.

I simply follow the day as it is. No big poses. No forced moments. Just real people and real connection.

If that sounds like your kind of wedding, I’d love to hear about it and see how we can capture it together at Jonny Donovan Photography.
